In addition, he worked on the new highway bridge over Noxon Rapids Reservoir at Trout Creek. Dave also had a two-man logging operation. When their oldest of four children, Jeff, was ready for school, they landed in Trout Creek, Montana, where they bought a service station and a trailer park. He attended Fergus High School in Lewistown, where he met his soulmate of 70 years, Patricia Weingart, whom he affectionately called “Pattie.” He worked as a crane operator for Hanson and Parr they traveled throughout Montana and Idaho, building bridges. He spent his youth developing his wandering spirit as he traveled west with his family following the railroad.
